Boldmere Shaggy Dogs

The Boldmere Shaggy Dogs is a friendly supportive and relaxed club for golfers aged 55 years or over who enjoy playing golf at Boldmere Golf Course.

Or club day is Friday but we also play regularly on Wednesdays and will have some matches on other days.

Members have official WHS handicaps which allow them to compete on level terms in our internal and external competitions.

We play regular stroke play and stableford competitions, but also have plenty of time to play other interesting and exciting forms of golf including team games such as Texas Scrambles, Greensomes, Waltzes, Better Balls, and many others.

We also play Three club plus a putter competitions and other individual competitions all of which adds  breadth to your golf experience and improves your golf.

We also play a season long 6 course challenge where we play all of the Birmingham mytime courses

We also play matches against other senior clubs and this takes the form of pairs four ball better ball (4BBB) play as featured in the Ryder Cup.

In addition we have away days at other interesting courses in the area and beyond.

You don’t need a partner to play with us.  We have dedicated sets of tee times set aside for us by mytimeactive on Wednesday and Friday mornings so all you need to do is to tell us you want to play and you will be put into a random draw. The random draw means that you get to play with different members every week and quickly get to know the whole membership. Its possible to share buggies with other members should you need one.

The Shaggy Dogs play Ready Golf in our rounds which basically means that for the most part we dispense with precedent and encourage members to play their shots when ready as long as it is safe to do so and doesn’t interfere with another member. This enables us to finish our rounds in a timely manner.

We work hard to raise money for our Captain’s nominated charity throughout the year and have supported many local charities over the years

We have a wonderful end of season dinner in October where we celebrate our season’s Golf and the winners of our Trophy competitions are applauded as they receive their silverware.
